CLE: Mitigating Risk: Digital Accessibility under the ADA
OSB Technology Law Section Sponsored Virtual Lunch and Learn
Thursday, April 16, 2026 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM PDT
Online Event
CLE Credits: 1 General (pending)
Over the last 15 years, increasing numbers of serial plaintiff lawsuits have been filed against websites under ADA. In 2025, more than 5,100 cases were filed in federal and state courts, representing a 20% increase over 2024. It’s estimated that 3 to 4 times as many cases are settled before they reach court. This CLE presentation will review non-technical basics for understanding what website and digital accessibility is, typical patterns in serial plaintiff lawsuits, and ways attorneys might seek help from accessibility professionals.
Speaker:
Bet Hannon, CPACC, is the Founder & CEO of AccessiCart, an agency that provides testing and consulting for improving web accessibility for people with disabilities, including responding to claims and moving toward meeting compliance requirements like ADA and the EAA – the European Accessibility Act. When not working, Bet enjoys cooking, hiking and snowshoeing near Bend, Oregon where she lives. She has educated lawyers and other practitioners on digital accessibility compliance and best practices throughout Oregon.
