Licensing AI Technology from Third Parties

This talk will discuss the different kinds of AI licenses available, a company’s legal obligations when incorporating AI into its products under the EU AI Act and US law, and the kinds of provisions companies should consider incorporating into their licensing agreements with third party AI providers.

 

Speaker Bio

Kate Downing

Kate Downing is an intellectual property attorney, specializing in open source and AI-related licensing and compliance. She advises clients with respect to licensing strategy, creating contract templates, and instituting tooling, processes, and policies for IP-related compliance. She established her practice in 2017 and before that she was the lead product counsel for ServiceNow and managed the open source compliance function at VMware.

 

Kate is a graduate of Columbia Law School and a current board member of the PolyForm Project and a member of the Blue Oak Council. She is also an advisor to FOSSA. Please see KateDowningLaw.com for her latest blog posts.
