The EU’s Privacy Law Revolution: GDPR and Privacy Shield
After four years of preparation and debate, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was approved by the EU Parliament on 14 April 2016. It came into force 20 days after its publication in the EU Official Journal, and will directly apply in all members states on 25 May 2018 - after which time those organizations in non-compliance will face heavy fines.
